Decorating homes with candles is centuries old custom. Its continuance through the eons is surprising. Perhaps the main reason of why candles are still popular, is the versatility of candles. Candles can be made in as many shapes and sizes as one can imagine. They can be tailored to suit the occasion. They can convey various moods. A group of candles in fireplace area can not only lit the entire rooms but can be used to keep the room warm in cold winter nights. Add to it the fragrance which can be put into them. No wonder they have lasted so long.

Mirror tricks: Mirrors and candles are a wonderful combination. They work magnificently. The mirrors are a nice way to showcase a fireplace mantel or wall décor. For achieving this, a small group of volatile candles is being placed in glass holders on the table in front of the mirror. The mirror reflects the lit candles creating a wonderful warm illusion in the room.

Votive candles: The votive candles can be lined up in a long row lengthwise across the table. It creates a stunning centrepiece for a dining table. Matching candle holders and candles with two to three different colours can be placed alternatively.

Fruit and vegetable candles: As candles can be made in any shape and size, candles resembling not only apples, bananas, guava, but also sugarcane or bottle gourd etc. These shining fruit candles can be placed in fruit-tray. In day time nobody will notice them until someone tries to have a bite. Beware! In evening they can be lit. Who will not like the idea of a long sugarcane like candle burning at the centre of a dining table?

Candle fire: Generally a roaring fire takes off the chill of cold winter’s night. If one loves to look of a fire but doesn’t want the hassle of lighting and cleaning afterwards, then candles are the best replacement for them. Simply five or six pillars or jar candles can be arranged in the fireplace area. The flame and fragrance of the extra large candle can be enjoyed just by lighting the wicks in the evening.
